Create a beautiful Spring Basket that can be used as a table centerpiece. Your choice - a rectangular or circular basket! Basket weaver and educator, Kathy Plahmer will take you through the steps, using traditional basket weaving techniques, to create a unique work of art. Each student will complete one Spring Basket. Beginner to experienced, 12+ to adult are welcome to register. Fees include supplies for the basket. Additional supplies needed: a flathead screwdriver, an old towel, 2 soup sized cans to use as weights, and a fabric tape measure. A drink and snack will be included during a break at 2:30 pm
Kathy Plahmer was greatly influenced by her great-grandmother’s black ash baskets that were made at the Lac du Flambeau reservation in Northern Wisconsin. She has seized every opportunity to study with local and national instructors in order to learn the art of weaving with a variety of materials, stylistic types and designs. She has been weaving for approximately 25 years and has taught these skills to others for about 20 years. She has tried to plan projects for cross-generation opportunities and she hopes to continue spreading awareness of this fascinating art form to many more!
