I REMEMBER PLYMOUTH: STORIES BEHIND THE BUILDINGS, A Community Storytelling Event Inspired by Ken Pannier’s Plymouth Then & Now: A Visual Transformation Exhibition

What do you remember about Plymouth? Did you shop at a downtown store that’s long gone? Work in a business that everyone used to know? Attend a memorable community event? Have a story about a building, neighborhood, or experience that has become part of Plymouth’s history?

At the opening reception for Ken Pannier’s Plymouth Then & Now exhibit, something remarkable happened. As visitors viewed the photographs, stories began to emerge—stories of businesses, families, celebrations, and everyday moments that many of us had never heard before. The memories were fascinating, heartfelt, and often surprising. We realized that these stories deserve to be shared. As part of our America at 250 celebration, the Plymouth Arts Center invites you to help preserve and celebrate the people, places, and experiences that have shaped our community. Together, we’ll bring Plymouth’s history to life through the memories of those who lived it.

We’re currently collecting stories inspired by the buildings, businesses, people, and events featured in Ken’s exhibit, as well as other cherished memories from Plymouth’s past. Whether your story is about a downtown storefront, a neighborhood gathering place, a school, church, factory, restaurant, special event, or a memorable moment in local history, we’d love to hear it.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE Submit a brief paragraph describing the story you’d like to share. If writing isn’t your preference, stop by the Plymouth Arts Center and meet with a staff member or Ken Pannier. We’ll gladly help document your memories and record details about the location or experience you’d like to discuss.

Then join us for a special community storytelling event with Ken as your host: Saturday, July 18, 2026 1:00–3:00 p.m. Plymouth Arts Center 520 East Mill Street, Plymouth

Selected participants will be invited to share a 5–10 minute presentation about a Plymouth building, business, event, or personal experience. Prefer not to speak? No problem. A volunteer will be happy to read your story for you.

Come listen, learn, laugh, reminisce, and discover stories you’ve never heard before.

Whether you’re sharing a memory or simply attending to enjoy the conversation, this promises to be a unique afternoon celebrating Plymouth’s rich heritage. Every building has a story. Every story helps preserve Plymouth’s history.

Free and Open to the Public Light Refreshments will be served. Cash bar.

“What do you remember about Plymouth? Let’s preserve our stories for future generations.”

Ken’s Art Show: Plymouth Then & Now will be on display in the Plymouth Arts Center greatroom through July 31st. Admission is free! Visit the PAC Tuesday, Thurs. & Friday 10am-4pm; Wednesdays 10am to 6pm, and Saturday Noon to 3pm.
