The classic medium is prized for its precision, contrast, and ability to create intricate details. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transform your ideas into rich compositions using lines, dots, and a variety of inking techniques. We’ll cover:

Different types of pens, inks, and brushes.
How to transfer images to a drawing surfaces
Choosing the right paper and surface
Seeing and interpreting images for ink rendering
Line work, control, and pressure technique-ink washes, textures, and fine details
Combining ink with other mediums

Meet the Teacher

Curtis Newman

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Curtis Newman now resides in Kiel, WI. He paints with oil, watercolors and acrylic paints including digital media. Curtis delights in exploring different techniques and subject matter, particularly subjects that invoke tranquility and a peaceful environment. Illustrating books is another endeavor he enjoys to complement the wonderful stories written by creative and entertaining authors! He majored in Illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and has been illustrating professionally for Harley-Davidson, Usinger Sausage, and German Fest using many mediums, digitally and traditionally. He leads paint parties and conducts classes to share the joys of creating art with others, encouraging people to explore drawing and painting for pleasure, relaxation and to be empowered to overcome challenges!
