Class Objectives: January 22– Drawing still life (non-living objects) with emphasis on shapes, positive and negative space, measuring and proportions.
February 19- Exploring shading and texture to capture how light, colors and patterns can create depth and the illusion of surface quality.
March 19– Understanding perspective in drawing to represent three dimensional objects on a flat surface, creating the illusion of depth by making objects appear smaller as they move further away from the viewer.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Curtis Newman now resides in Kiel, WI. He paints with oil, watercolors & acrylic paints including digital media. Curtis delights in exploring different techniques and subject matter, particularly subjects that invoke tranquility and a peaceful environment. Illustrating books is another endeavor he enjoys to complement the wonderful stories written by creative and entertaining authors! He majored in Illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and has been illustrating professionally for Harley-Davidson, Usinger Sausage, and German Fest using many mediums, digitally and traditionally. He leads paint parties and conducts classes to share the joys of creating art with others, encouraging people to explore drawing and painting for pleasure, relaxation and to be empowered to overcome challenges!
