Plymouth Arts Center Launches Major Capital Campaign
Plymouth, WI - The Plymouth Arts Center Board of Directors officially launched a bold new building renovation and expansion capital campaign this week. The campaign goal is to raise $1.5 million to renovate and to expand the Arts Center’s current 8700 sq. ft. facility located at 520 E. Mill Street, downtown Plymouth. The effort is the largest fundraising campaign in the Arts Center’s 17-year history. The PAC board is pleased to announce thatLou Gentine, chairman and chief executive officer of Sargento Foods Inc., Plymouth, Wisconsin, graciously accepted the position of Campaign Chairman. The Plymouth Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable, membership arts organization established in 1993. Events at the Plymouth Arts Center have increased steadily since its humble beginnings with current annual attendance exceeding 20,000 visitors, representing an average of over 20% year-on-year growth. After years of bursting at the seams with its lively schedule of artistic and cultural events, the Arts Center embarked upon a carefully planned expansion and renovation program. When the project is complete, new features will include an expanded gallery exhibition wing and gallery shoppe conveniently located at the primary entrance, an increase of 50% to the theatre-event great room space, a new education wing with two classrooms, two new restrooms, a new serving kitchen, an additional 2,400 square feet of storage space, a new entrance foyer, canopies front and rear in keeping with the historic Spanish revival architecture, resulting in an energy efficient, attractive anchor to historic downtown Plymouth.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the Plymouth Arts Center and the Plymouth community,” says Tom Slater, president of the Board of Directors. “On behalf of the Board and Mr. Gentine, we are very pleased to finally unveil the renovation completed drawings and capital campaign strategy. This renovation project will architecturally complement our 1930’s building, ultimately expanding our valuable programs and services that benefit the community, visitors, and the 25,000 residents of Western Sheboygan County.”
Gentine said, “During the campaign’s silent phase, we have been identifying funding sources, and have secured pledges of over $500,000. I’m confident that individual philanthropists, corporations, and foundations in the greater Sheboygan County area, as well as community members and friends of the arts from all walks of life will come forward with their support to get us over the top. The Plymouth Arts Center truly is the hub of cultural activity for our community and a significant anchor business for the downtown.”
“The Plymouth Arts Center has a bright future and is a source of great pride for our community,” said Donna Hahn, Plymouth Arts Center Executive Director. “I’m extremely proud of our dedicated team of artists, performers, and volunteers, as they are the foundation of this project. Their talents and efforts have lead to this expansion and renovation project.”
