Musicians and listeners are invited to join us at the Plymouth Center. The event is free and open to the public. From 6pm until 7:00, players mingle and join in other groups, or practice for a performance slot later. At 7:00, people generally take seats and enjoy the instrumentals or songs presented by whoever has signed up to share up to 3 selections. |

There is usually an intermission about halfway through during which time you can talk with the musicians or fellow listeners and have some refreshments. (Coffee, sodas, and some treats are provided by the hosts, and additional munchies are brought by people attending if they’d like to.) The Open Mic often runs until 10 or 10:30, depending upon the number who sign up and the duration of their sessions. It’s wholesome family entertainment. No alcohol, no smoking. |

In terms of instruments, we’ve had guitars, mandolins, banjos, dobro, penny whistle, bohdran, bass, fiddle, harmonica, and ukulele. There is a piano available. Musical styles can be classical, country, folk, gospel, ragtime, and “other”. Some of the performers are just getting started, and this is a friendly place for a first performance. Some are quite experienced and talented. Everyone is welcome, everyone gets a chance. |
