Proudly Presenting -
Art For Nature’s Sake
Gallery 110 North is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit by the
Water’s Edge Artists celebrating and focusing on preservation of one of our most precious natural resources. Paintings and sculpture in this exhibit bring to life the beauty and fragility of the land and water resources of the Lakeshore region. Entitled “Water’s Edge Artists: Creating a Stewardship Ethic,” the exhibit opens to the public on Friday, March 25th and will continue through June 3rd.
There are approximately 24 active artist members of this “plein air” (in nature) group who live and work in Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Door, Brown and Eastern Calumet counties and surrounding areas. They engage in monthly “paint-outs” and other events. Per their mission statement, “The Water’s Edge Artists is an alliance of plein air artists dedicated to the conservation and protection of water resources in the Lakeshore Basin of northeastern Wisconsin. Through collaboration with the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, our efforts reflect the shared passion for preserving the local fragile environments of our watersheds.”
In addition to the art exhibit, several special events are planned. The public is invited to an oil painting demonstration at The Plymouth Arts Center on April 16 & 17 by artist Bonnita Budysz, and a panel discussion entitled, Merging Art Into Stewardship, will be held in early May. Additionally, four weekend “paint-outs” are being planned for interested area artists. Detailed information for all special events will soon be available.
The public is invited to meet the artists during the opening reception on Friday, March 25th from 5 to 8 PM. Live musical entertainment will be presented from 5:30-6:30 PM by Anneke Seely – violin and Elisabeth Daniels – piano, and from 6:30-7:30 PM by Katherine Leclerc – piano. This exhibit is graciously sponsored by Van Horn Automotive.
Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, Noon-4 PM and Sunday, 1-4 PM. Admission is always free. For more information contact The Plymouth Arts Center, 920-892-8409 or visit us at www.plymoutharts.org. For more information about the Water’s Edge Artists, go to www.lnrp.org/art.
