Get out your dictionaries! The Plymouth Arts Center and Sargento Foods will be presenting the Tony award-winning musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” “Spelling Bee” is a musical comedy which follows six young people in the throes of puberty, who are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. At each performance, four audience members are invited on stage to participate in the Bee, making each performance unique. Please note that “Spelling Bee” is recommended for audience members 13 years or older due to some adult language and humor.
The show was nominated for six Tony Awards including Best Musical in 2005. It took home two awards for “Best Book of a Musical” and “Best Featured Actor in a Musical”. The cast of “Spelling Bee” includes members of the Mill Street Guild featuring Tricia Lutze, Kirt Graves, Travis Knier, Jamie Jeanty, Leopold Shircel, Kristi Hasenstein, Emily Shircel, Trevor Seefeldt and Willie Gesch. The creative team includes Jon Weiss (Director), Emily Shircel (Choreographer and Music Director), Ray Rhodes (Conductor), and Pat Smith (Lighting Designer). Can you spell E-N-T-E-R-T-A-I-N-I-N-G?
